I know I should have a comic up, but it takes time. I am actively working on one!
3/5 Dragonflight leaders!
Though you might think the characters I develop are…just random, I put a VERY great amount of thought to the metaphor of the characters… I make sure every character shown (with the exception of guests) has some real meaning in their design. This post is a result of an e-mail from a certain SOMEONE (if you’re reading this you know who you are) who thinks I like to just draw blood elf females because they ” are hot”.
Azarizotza–She is originally based off of the generic High-Elf mage character from Warcraft 3. I just so happened to like the mage mechanic, though I almost chose a rouge at the time…so she became my main character. I designed her so that she had “wild” red hair to represent her fiery passions but held back by a thin strip of “discipline” which is the blue band, given to her by her mother before she died, just knowing that one day…being smart and sensible would avenge her mother’s death…
Xandaria– NOW I will admit, her tan was initially a weird mistake with my color filters and compression…but I remember telling the actual Xandie (after I posted the first comic) to “f**k it all, I’m gonna keep consistency no matter what”… Now the actual Xandie IRL is actually Irish and..quite “fair”, which is the funny problem…but whatever. I designed her cowl to represent that she willingly keeps her passionate concern for the well being of others under “wraps” though it leaks out. She’s a healer and is in pain when others experience pain. She hides it with her crass, hardened attitude, which is representative of her cowl with bright blonde hair (light) leaking from it.
Solstia–She was raised by a Worgen (yes a Worgen…not a Wolvar)…Her parents abandoned her and she was forced to work in Ambermill as…someone who harvested lumber for her foster mother who has become increasingly involved with someone in Shadowfang Keep…) Years of working with many pounds of Lumber led her to be very strong, physically, but missing out on the general socializing of children her own age and race. It didn’t take her long to realize she was “Adopted” when her adoptive mother eventually abandoned her, and was told by the “voice” in her head where to find Aza and Xandie… but that is a story for another time…do any of you remember this? That’s right. Solstia wasn’t always “cleavage-tastic”. In fact, I was a bit against it. But realized, given her past, I wanted her to be defended with Plate armor, but be VERY vulnerable at the same time. Now I know that if you penetrate your GI system (stomach, intestines), it tends to be a very dangerous situation. This is because bacteria from your intestines leak into your other-wise sterile body, causing HORRIBLE infection. I wanted to add that vulnerability, but I also felt her heart should be “QUESTIONABLY” exposed. I tried a few different designs before I came up with the “pentagonal” design for the breastplate exposure…giving an idea of…if she was hit there with an arrow…would it hit her heart or would she be protected? Who knows..given her vulnerable state…
Also as Xandie said “It never hurts to show cleavage or midriff for viewers…hey, why don’t you give Xandie midriff every so often…DON’T YOU FIND ME SEXY?!”…
Moving on….
Zarillion– He wears sunglasses when he’s “playing the part” but takes them off when he’s showing emotion. He wears his tie loose around his neck to represent, he isn’t so fond or strict with the rules he has to uphold…
Amarantha– She keeps her hands out of sight, unless she is admiring them. She loves her work, and admires it obsessively, though has a certain rebelliousness with herself expressed by…her other appearance features…aheeamemehcoughahemGOTHYahem…..
Zerkest– You’ll frequently see him pointing and with thick glasses. Implying that he is “focused” and is always “instructing”. I appreciate his instructions…despite what you may think about the last comic….
….Hmmm, all of them have representation, just comment and I’ll tell you what each means!
Sorry guys, Holidays got the best of me! See yah next week!
My comic this week, is actually coming a little closer to Christmas. You see, I’m one of the Artists collaborating on the WoW Insider’s Sunday Morning Funnies Secret Santa. I will be doing a random person’s comic, and a random person shall be doing ToTW. I will put the comic to auto update on Friday, so you’ll see it then!
Edit: Coffin’s Better about Updating on Tuesdays than me! He was my secret santa! This is win!
I’m sorry guys, but I’m working on the comic. I’m running late because Warning: excuse[9] is not defined! Critical failure.
The comic is coming! I’m working on it!
I’d knew you say that so I prepared some proof.
I’ve just been working on few other things for the site that are very time consuming and the Hallow’s End comic set me back a bit.
I knew you’d say that too! Well lucky for me I have proof of those other things as well!
Oops I don’t think you were supposed to see that last one….
YES! YES! I AM A GUY! I am male, XY Chromosomes, am a natural giver…..not receiver…..
THE POINT IS..people are still confused about this…. Let me make this clear..I made Azarizotza alongside many other characters, mostly which are male, I just so happened to like the mage the most….why her?
Yes, I suppose I could have simply made Aza a male character when convenient, as I had considered…but I realized that a man playing a strong female character is actually practically unheard of, without that character being of some sort of… “strong sexual desire”.
Telling you the truth, if I knew Aza in real life I’d probably hate who she was, intelligent but impulsive and reactive…everyone knows jumping to conclusions is just a recipe for disaster.
So yeah, I play a girl, so what, I don’t care, It just so happened to be the character that was most interesting…will I race and/or gender change…no because that would be disrespectful…
Disrespectful to all the gamer women out there who were forced to play a guy in The Legend of Zelda or…Doom…or Quake…or those other “Single Word Replies” which you can’t think of an an end to besides a guy saving the day and rescuing the dame in distress.
Occasionally I stray away from WoW and play another game..or two..or many…..
There is one first person shooter game out there that I can truly call art…and that’s the original Half-Life. Now I will admit, I haven’t had the free time to get through Half-Life 2, but I still think it’s an amazing game, check it out if you haven’t, though I doubt many of you haven’t already.
So anyway, one of the great things about the Valve Source Engine is that you can practically make anything with the GMod; custom games, machinima, giant ants, Thanksgiving dinner…and most importantly: comics.
Which is why I’m going to introduce you guys to one of my favorite sources of GMod Related humor, Chris’ GMod Comic! If you’re familiar with Team Fortress 2, Portal, Half-Life or anything in between, you’ll find every comic hysterical. I urge you to check it out if you need a break from WoW related humor (though I hear he’s been known to do a few WoW comics as well!).
GeodesicDragon, the creator of the GMod Comic, is also quite the talented Lua scripter. For those who don’t know what that means, he’s a talented World of Warcraft Add-on maker. I highly recommend an add-on he wrote called DuelResponse. You’ll be running around Orgrimmar and Dalaran rocking out to M.C. Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This” in minutes.
Something need doin’?!
No but seriously, I actually spent a little too much time working on something else (you may call it a surprise) to finish the comic on time, I will try to finish it by midnight today!
As for the surprise, no I won’t tell you what it is…I can only tell you it rhymes with “borum”.
