This is my hallows end special…damn shoes…sucked the life out of me..drawing…. sleep now
EDIT: Now that I have slept, I can write a somewhat proper blog post.
I had a quick vision of the crew’s Hallow’s End costumes, Xandaria as a pirate and Solstia…well she vowed to kill me if I didn’t make her a cat…. both were easy enough…
I also thought of drawing Aza as the Wicked Witch of the East as a quick, harmless reference. WRONG… those shoes haunted my nightmares, It took me half a day…I just could not grasp the dimensions of a woman’s shoe…
Funny thing is as challenging as it was, I did not give up, in fact I have this insane obsession with getting something right when I can’t draw it…what I didn’t expect is how the comic’s joke had changed from the beginning to end of that comic…
Every time I’d fail at drawing the shoes, I’d go back and touch something else up without thinking about it. Originally, Aza had a worried…ish… face, by the end it was downright angry. The original plan was her banging at Deathwing’s door annoyingly saying “she would not go home until he gave her candy” with a “what’s the worst that can happen” mentality,
…but by the end of the drawing, Aza looked downright pissed and I was like “yeah, I’d be that pissed if I had to deal with those shoes all night… oh wait I did”
YES! YES! I AM A GUY! I am male, XY Chromosomes, am a natural giver…..not receiver…..
THE POINT IS..people are still confused about this…. Let me make this clear..I made Azarizotza alongside many other characters, mostly which are male, I just so happened to like the mage the most….why her?
Yes, I suppose I could have simply made Aza a male character when convenient, as I had considered…but I realized that a man playing a strong female character is actually practically unheard of, without that character being of some sort of… “strong sexual desire”.
Telling you the truth, if I knew Aza in real life I’d probably hate who she was, intelligent but impulsive and reactive…everyone knows jumping to conclusions is just a recipe for disaster.
So yeah, I play a girl, so what, I don’t care, It just so happened to be the character that was most interesting…will I race and/or gender change…no because that would be disrespectful…
Disrespectful to all the gamer women out there who were forced to play a guy in The Legend of Zelda or…Doom…or Quake…or those other “Single Word Replies” which you can’t think of an an end to besides a guy saving the day and rescuing the dame in distress.
Awwww….
You’ll see here at Torment of the Week, Warlocks and Demons are extra squishy.
I bet you all wanted to see how Solstia’s being tested or…even who Xandie’s instructor is….but not all things are as linear as you’d expect…..
EDIT: The background stained glass window and terrace fence took about 10x longer than anything in the foreground. In my opinion, far too much work to be obscured, Originally, Zarillion was supposed to be drinking on the exclusive and private outdoor “roof deck” of The Czar Scallion with the aurora borealis in the sky in he back, so I drew a Dalaran themed fence.

Everything in Dalaran Floats….
I began to draw a tile pattern for the floor and was reminded of something from my high school geometry classes, if the pattern doesn’t have a an axis of symmetry, it won’t tile well, and as much as I wanted to just flip the Dalaran spire on itself, it created something that didn’t look like the Dalaran spires…

and is shaped like this….
So I made it a stained glass window, which made it more appropriate for the “brooding” mood anyway…
As far as Xandie and the shower, sorry guys, that’s all you’re gonna get. I know, I’m a jerk!
Occasionally I stray away from WoW and play another game..or two..or many…..
There is one first person shooter game out there that I can truly call art…and that’s the original Half-Life. Now I will admit, I haven’t had the free time to get through Half-Life 2, but I still think it’s an amazing game, check it out if you haven’t, though I doubt many of you haven’t already.
So anyway, one of the great things about the Valve Source Engine is that you can practically make anything with the GMod; custom games, machinima, giant ants, Thanksgiving dinner…and most importantly: comics.
Which is why I’m going to introduce you guys to one of my favorite sources of GMod Related humor, Chris’ GMod Comic! If you’re familiar with Team Fortress 2, Portal, Half-Life or anything in between, you’ll find every comic hysterical. I urge you to check it out if you need a break from WoW related humor (though I hear he’s been known to do a few WoW comics as well!).
GeodesicDragon, the creator of the GMod Comic, is also quite the talented Lua scripter. For those who don’t know what that means, he’s a talented World of Warcraft Add-on maker. I highly recommend an add-on he wrote called DuelResponse. You’ll be running around Orgrimmar and Dalaran rocking out to M.C. Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This” in minutes.
Something need doin’?!
No but seriously, I actually spent a little too much time working on something else (you may call it a surprise) to finish the comic on time, I will try to finish it by midnight today!
As for the surprise, no I won’t tell you what it is…I can only tell you it rhymes with “borum”.
Well it’s perfectly clear that Aza’s not making any friends here…
EDIT: Wow, I really have to learn to remember to put a publish time on these. I keep intending to and keep forgetting to. Oh well, you get it a few hours early.
Okay so the thing is….I am a HUGE Sonic the Hedgehog fan and I am psyched on Sonic the Hedgehog 4 coming out.
In celebration, I will post one of the greatest intros to anything ever….the Sonic CD Intro!
And the ending…
What’s going on with Xandie’s administrator? Where is he/she? Why is the test in a Locker room?!
Lots of experimenting with the style here, I took a lot of risks!
So sleepy, internets finally went up, time to sleep, enjoy comic, talk tomorrow.
Edit: Still sleepy, but awake now. So, it seems not all of TMDM is out to get our heroes.
Yes, I intended General Gushma’s Fried Chicken’s logo to be GG, a popular gaming abbreviation meaning “Good Game” most annoyingly said by arrogant jerks before beginning a Starcraft match….
