I am the first to badger Aza about his lack of updates! He’s been flaky, recluse, and downright out of it. The truth of the matter is, Aza has been quite sick this past week, (he’s not actually flaky and recluse, although we question whether he’s ever not been ‘out of it’). I think he’s sick because of the lack of LOST this week. Things like that would get anyone sick, (except for me because I’m not a LOST fan….although I guess that means I should tend to Aza and Xandie’s junkie withdrawal symptoms
) Anyways, the whole point of the blog post was in fact to be the equivalent of asking your doctor for a ‘get out of work free’ note. I am the doctor, and I’m officially excusing Aza from doing the comic on time this week. He might have one up later this week, he might not. The point is that if I’m not going to bash his head in for being sick and subsequently lazy and in bed/ huddled on the couch, then you shouldn’t either. As a person who knows what’s going to happen next in the comics, I promise it’ll be worth the wait. So cut the poor guy some slack this week, and send him get well wishes. (This works like the whole fairy thing from Peter Pan, if you say you believe/ want him to get better, he totally will! I promise….although I guess my promise might not be worth much seeing as I’m headed for law school…:P) Anyways, thank you all for reading this long “excuse” note. We felt it was only fair to inform you all o what was going on instead of just leaving you all hanging.
In the meantime, please enjoy this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjZ2-7C-2AI
It’s been out for a while, but it really never, ever gets old to watch.
Ahh…despite the somewhat crippling unnamed stomachitis, I manage to deliver. Yeah, I know…a day late.
This is the beginning of a beautiful chain of events.
Who is this “Zarillion” and what does he want? You’ll just have to wait and see!
IF I HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE THE END OF ‘LOST’, YOU HAVE TO WAIT TOO!
Black Mark-Up is actually inspired by a visit to Darahir in the underbelly of Dalaran. I noticed that Xandie had been buying reagents from him but he didn’t seem to include the reputation discount. I had to be sure that I was not just drinking too much cough syrup, so I went and checked myself.
This guy sells a Rune of Teleportation for 10 silver. I pay 8 silver at Sisters Sorcerous.
I found myself asking what kind of black market sells a readily available item at a higher price than the legit business?
The answer?
I swear I’ll only rip you off a little bit!
Moving on, a few people have been asking about Azarizotza’s name. I can assure you that it is not the result of face-rolling the keyboard. It actually comes from Turkish. ‘Azar’=Fire, ‘Izotz’=Ice, and the ‘a’ is just for flair. The reason why her name is so long is probably a subconscious expression of how I feel about my own name. True, ‘Alexander’ is no where near as obscure, but sometimes I feel as if it’s a chore to say the whole thing and wish my name was just a little shorter.
Though you would probably have to ask Solstia and Xandie themselves about their name choices, I think it goes something like the following:
Solstia is obviously “of the Sun” and Xandaria is “because I like names with teh ‘X’es in them. Dey is cool!”
Thanks for waiting, I’ll try to work on the next one within the next few days. That is if the stomachitis doesn’t get me again.
Ahhhhh! The stomachitis hit me again and I haven’t been able to update. I did get some sketching done between puking sessions but not enough. I think I have approached control enough to try to get a little something finished for the week. Let’s see if it happens….
Blizzard gave us a look at the Cataclysm class changes this week. Upon reading and analyzing the proposed changes, it occurs to me how much the World of Warcraft is an insane balancing task. Sure go ahead and talk what classes are OP and what classes are Beast Mastery, but that doesn’t change the fact that that it at least has some semblance of balance. It’s an incredible task.
I suppose it’s that reason these enchants aren’t in the game…..
As far as the art, some of you may have noticed that the characters look different from week to week. This is because I’m still finding my style. I’ve been drawing for only 9 months, and before that point, I was afraid of art. No, seriously afraid. I once ran screaming bloody horror up and down the halls of the Tate Modern Art Gallery. Fortunately for me, everyone thought I was an expressionist exhibit, so no one called security.
Now that I’m less afraid, I do as the great scientists do and experiment until I find something interesting I want to explore. Today I tried some shading effects I’ve never tried before. I also changed the format of my borders.
We also see that Xandie without her cowl (she is not bald, though her hair seems to conform to the shape her cowl) and Solstia wearing something other than plate armor, which is only somewhat unrealistic to wear to sleep as opposed to that tacky swashbuckler number.
Ah, the dangers of raiding with your significant other. Specifically when you and your significant other roll on most of the same gear. This is obviously based on a true story, except the part where I let them die, cause I’m waaaaaaay more professional than that. My advice to all you guys that raid with a special lady, roll a class/spec that won’t have you stealing all your significant other’s upgrades. Or be prepared for the consequences….
Sol’s and my April Fool’s comic was a rousing success among our friends (and you can see it in all its glory by hitting the “previous” button), but damn was it hard. Photoshop is an invention from hell and the Wacom tablet is a thing of dark magic. I had to resort to the more rudimentary technique of pencil and paper and scanning things. And then I made Aza put the text in. (Whip sounds) The whole process has given us a new appreciation for how much work goes into putting something together weekly. My hat off to you Aza. Although, I still can’t promise I won’t get mad at you when you keep me up doing a comic at 4 in the morning.
One last thing to mention, the iPad is out and as soon as someone rewrites the interface to look like a PADD I’m getting one so I can walk around and pretend to be from the future!
I noticed something. I don’t get Twitter. I’ve tried and this is a SURE sign I’m getting old. Not the fact I don’t get it, but the fact that I don’t care about getting it. What has become of me? Is technology and the way of the future just…slipping though my hands?
Or I could just honestly not see the point.
This is a coup ladies and gentlemen! Xandaria and I have reached a point of exasperation with Mr. Azarizotza, (yes, he’s a guy), and we are taking over Torment of the Week….FOR GOOD! That’s right, no longer will we have to whip and taunt Aza for updates! We will be providing you with the quality comics you are all accustomed to, (not to mention awesome blog updates
). We wouldn’t be surprised if you guys end up liking our comics more than Aza’s since our drawing abilities and senses of humor are clearly superior to his. On behalf of Xandie and myself, your new writers/artists/ website managers, we present to you our latest comic, “Hijacked”! Frankly, we feel that this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship between two crazy, maniacal girls and their newfound Internet audience.
P.S. we’ll update more in one week than he did in the whole of Torment of the Week history! Just a bit of bonus information for all you eager readers out there!
